I have to admit, sometimes I wonder what was going on inside the heads of fabric designers in the 1950s. I’m sure there’s a theme to this fabric, I just don’t know what it is. Teapots + roosters + horseman with sword + vines = ???

It’s really cute. I think the theme is Early American, or Colonial American, or something like that, but really – teapots! Chickens! Isn’t that all that matters? :)
I think you’re right. For some reason, I was thinking it was supposed to be Asian, maybe just because so many of these designs from that era are?
Actually, I am pretty sure that the theme is Quimper faience (pottery). There is actually a very old tradition of making plates that look just like those horsemen with medallions, and roosters are a common theme.
