Styling Truffle for Winter

Today I’m styling the Truffle dress. This is my last winter styling post for the lovely patterns in the Colette Sewing Handbook. I hope you’ve all enjoyed these posts! I’ve had fun putting them together for you. And if you’re a fan of these posts, don’t worry, this isn’t the last you’ll see. Coming up soon, I’ll be creating some more styling and inspiration posts. If you have your own styling collages or ideas, we’d love to see them! Feel free to post in the comments or in our Flickr group.

These are just gorgeous! I guess the fabrics are the recommended ones for Truffle, only in deeper shades? Oh, that red is just….oh!

These posts are my favorite feature of the blog, so I’m glad you’ll be continuing them. They’ve made me take a second look at patterns I originally passed over, like this one! I agree with Dawn: you have fabulous taste. I always feel a little challenged in the accessorizing department, so it’s helpful to me to see different ways to dress up an outfit.

thank you for the posts, it really helps me think of how I want to put things together and get ideas on what I need to add or not add for a season~
I love basics, and truffle IS a basic! I can see it many ways, this is what I love about this pattern line!

I am the Etsy shop owner for the vintage green three strand necklace (White Pelican Boutique). I was thrilled when the person who bought the necklace referred me to your blog. Thank you for featuring my item. Kristin

I wonder what people think the Truffle dress would look like with sleeves? I love it so much but I hate going sleeveless…..any opinions?

I love what you did to make this dress, which initially seemed very “Summer-y” to me, work for winter!

I just got your book and am so excited. Thank you for all posts related to patterns in the book. Like other comments have said, I’d like to know what fabric you used and if you have any recommendations for adding sleeves. Thank you!

I absolutely adore this dress! The book is on my Christmas list, I’m so excited to try out projects from it! I’m thinking a Truffle in the deep blue colour you have here, it’s just lovely!

I am chiming in to say, I have really enjoyed these styling posts. Especially giving ideas to style more summery patterns for winter. I am glad to hear you will continue doing these type of posts. If I don’t get the book for Christmas, I’ll be purchasing it myself soon after.

Thank you so much for this post! I started working on a toile for the Truffle Dress, and I have to say that it is a pleasure to create so far. Everything is lining up beautifully and it looks great too. As a novice sewist, this is so encouraging. I’m so excited to get the final product finished in my liberty print wool!

I LOVE these posts and I honestly would not be sad to see them done for all colette patterns, every season! I think *seeing* the patterns done different ways has definitely increased my desire to buy them!!

BUT, I have to comment on the last ensemble: what is up with the scary legs modelling the tights – please tell me that is just a really poorly designed mannequin!

As to the comment above, I do believe I’ve seen those legs before on websites for tights and socks — creepy, eh?

I thought those legs were creepy, too! They’re like alien legs. But I really like the tights.
