What kind of fabric did you use? I used a brown plaid cotton by Moda French General. Not sure if it’s specifically a quilting cotton, but it has a nice drape and is not as stiff as some quilting cottons I’ve used.

How did you decide to reflect your personal style in the pattern? I was inspired by a cool plaid maxi-dress I saw on the street and Eunny’s gingham Macaron, featured here. I love plaid, especially when it’s a little off, like with a surprising color or going in different directions. I cut the yoke, sleeves, and waistband on the bias to achieve that in my dress. The bright coral in my brown plaid was just interesting enough while still being easily wearable. I could never wear the loud maxi-dress that inspired me!

What thoughts do you have about the project? I’m pleased with the way the cut and lines work for me, a pear-shape with a couple sizes between my top and bottom halves. It gives the illusion of curves on top, which I don’t have, and flatters the curves I do have below. I lengthened the skirt because I’m not used to wearing such short skirts, but I think I’ll go short next time. I loved working with the pattern and found the sleeve construction, which was new to me, really clever yet simple and flattering. I’ll definitely be making Macaron again.
