Featured Seamstress: Ellen

Name: Ellen

Skill Level: Intermediate Advanced (I’ve been sewing for 38 years, lol)

Pattern: Jasmine

Blog: It’s a Sewing Life

Her post about the pattern: New Jasmine

What kind of fabric did you use? A vintage madras cotton I’ve had in my stash, plus some newly purchased linen for the collar.

How did you decide to reflect your personal style in the pattern? I really like plaids, and think plaids on the bias give a lot of interest, without a lot of work. I also fall into the older category (not that old, but definitely past my 30s, so I wanted it to look age appropriate and not too “girly”. I think the contrast and simple tie with the collar accomplish that.

What thoughts do you have about the project? I really loved this project, and found it easy to construct, but unique in appearance. It is definitely a top that will see a lot of wear for at least 3 seasons of the year!

Thanks, Ellen!

I’m older, too ~ 60 ~
Love all the sweet, scallops, and ruffles! Sadly, I burried my feminine self in a business suit, and swam with the sharks in a land office, when I could have been womanly and motherly.
My choice, bad choice.
Bring on the pink, girly things!!!
I haven’t got much time left to enjoy them.

By luck, I happened to be in Elle’s company the first time she wore her newly made Jasmine! It is tremendously flattering and superbly constructed — well done Elle :D.
