Featured Seamstress: Inna

Name: Inna

Skill Level: Intermediate

Pattern: Lily

Her blog: Thewallinna and other creatures

Her post about the pattern: Sunny Lily

What kind of fabric did you use? I used brushed cotton twill by Nani Iro, my favorite textile producer.

How did you decide to reflect your personal style in the pattern? Color and prints have always been my signature way of dressing, and red is my favorite color. I’m also trying to add more of a feminine silhouette to my wardrobe. Keeping this in mind, I wanted to create an outfit which I could use for both work and fun and wear for most of the year. Besides that, I can’t live without pockets! So when the summer Colette Patterns collection was released, I purchased the Lily pattern in a flash.

What thoughts do you have about the project? Working with the Lily pattern was so easy! The instructions are super clear and easy to follow. The only adjustments I made were lengthening the bodice and the SBA. Don’t you think the Lily pattern is chic? I would love to make an evening dress using this pattern again, but this time using silk and lace and making a strapless bodice with boning. Ohlala!

This is lovely! A very flattering color and fit. Perhaps in the future someone can post tips on lengthening bodices in patterns since many petite people prefer a longer bodice? Thanks!

It looks fabulous! I love the colour. And I love that Ina wants to make an evening version in black silk and lace. The possibilities are endless. I love how so many seamstresses have made this pattern their own!
