Her post about the pattern: Truffle
What kind of fabric did you use? I used a sheer polka dot rayon blend over a brown rayon challis.
How did you decide to reflect your personal style in the pattern? I am a little obsessed with color. I generally start all of my projects by thinking about what color or colors I’d like to use, especially when it’s something out of the ordinary. I thought the sheer polka dot fabric was an interesting combination of muddy olive green and aqua. And I look for any excuse to wear my turquoise shoes.
What thoughts do you have about the project? It’s a really fantastic pattern. The shape is simple but flattering and the flounce adds just a little something extra. I’d love to make it again in a stiffer fabric.
Thanks, Liza Jane!

The shape and silhouette is really fantastic but my favorite part of the dress are the polka dots. I can never get enough polka dots!
Super cute! Great job, girl!
This has to be one of my favorite versions of Truffle!
Where did you get those lovely aqua shoes? Love this color palette.
I got these shoes years ago. The brand is Mudd. I’m actually surprised they’ve lasted this long!
This is beautiful, I can’t wait to make up my Truffle now!!!
I like the dress but I am particularly loving the bright blue shoes you paired it with…….
I am dying for those Seychelles shoes.
Very becoming Liza Jane! Great dress with the cute shoes!
Lovely!
Hey, that’s me! Thanks so much for featuring me! I feel like a star ;)
LOVE love love the polka dots!
This is the best version of this dress I have seen! Love the polka dots too.
Very pretty! Did you use French seams?
Very delayed response, but yes I did! Except on the zipper side where I did a mock french seam.
Very nice, Liza Jane! Actually, I like your version so much that I finally bought the book! :)
Speaking of, Sarai:
I read your “About” in the book and see that you have a user experience background! As one UX person to another, it really shows in your work. Even though I’ll have to do quite a bit of fiddling with the patterns (being flat-chested and petite) it’ll be worth it because I love how you are able to layout and explain everything so clearly. The book is worth having just for the sewing info along.
Cool, Jen! Always nice to talk to someone who knows what UX means. :)
