What kind of fabric did you use? nIt’s a lightweight cotton flannel that I picked up for free at a fabric swap.
How did you decide to reflect your personal style in the pattern? This is my wearable muslin, so I worked with fabric from my stash. Normally I don’t wear much plaid, but I loved Lee’s plaid version last winter. To break up the busy print, I used piping and cut the yoke and waist on the bias.
What thoughts do you have about the project? At first I wasn’t sure if the Macaron would work for my body type considering my only curve is my smile. I made several alterations to the fit, and when I slipped on this version, all hesitation disappeared. It added curves where none exist! Proof positive this style suits any figure. I’m so thrilled to sew up the final version!
Thanks, Michelle!

Oh my goodness I love the plaid! What a great fabric choice! What a fun idea to use piping – I’m going to have to try that. Thanks for sharing!
What a fantastic dress! And Michelle looks gorgeous in it!
What an amazing dress. I love the bias idea. Congrats.

This looks fantastic! What a great use of plaid.
I never thought about the Macaron in plaid. It looks fabulous on you! The bias cut yoke and the contrast piping really make the dress!
I’d never have guessed that was your muslin! It looks really great. I especially like that you have apparently widened the midriff/waistband. That was a perfect idea for your fit. I’d love to see the next one!
The Macaron looks extra brilliant in plaid! I love the directional effect. Well done, Michelle :)
My only curve is my smile as well! :) Maybe I’ll have to give the Macaron a try!
Thank you all for the lovely comments! The encouragement I’ve received has been wonderful. (And of course I highly recommend the Macaron!)
