Her Post about the Pattern: Clover Pants and Jasmine Blouse

What kind of fabric did you use? I used a white swiss dot cotton for Jasmine, and grey stretch denim for the Clovers (98% cotton, 2% elastine). Both purchased from Tessuti Fabrics in Melbourne out of my birthday money!

How did you decide to reflect your personal style in the pattern? Personal style is something I have been pondering of late. I had a baby 8 months ago, and am still breastfeeding. Prior to having a bub, I wore dresses and high-waisted skirts with a top tucked in 99.9% of the time. Breastfeeding makes those kinds of outfits near impossible. This outfit has therefore been my ‘uniform’ of late. It is flattering and stylish, yet totally practical. I was so excited when these patterns were released!

What thoughts do you have about the project? I found Jasmine to be a straightforward project. I didn’t make any changes, except to lengthen the blouse by approximately 5cm. I love the pattern – and am planning to sew another one in a gorgeous silk I bought in Italy recently. The Clover pants are very easy to put together, but challenging to fit. The sew-a-long was very helpful (thanks Colette Patterns!), but as I had never fit pants to that level before, I made 4 muslins (my blog has details on the adjustments I made). I absolutely love the end result, and they get a lot of wear. I’m actually just finishing off a black pair right now! These pants tick so many boxes for me.

Thanks, Rachel!

Ever notice how Colette sewers/bloggers are all so beautiful?
Love the “scrolling featured seamstress” feature. Did I miss it before or is it new?
Happy sewing and viewing…

How lovely! I’m in love with this look. Beautiful patterns, Sarai. Inspiring execution, Rachel. I really need to get past my fear of pants-making because these just became a must-have.

Wow! Four muslins was soooo worth the final fit on those pants! They look amazing! I may or may not be a little jealous ;)

Thank you everyone for your lovely comments! I do love these trousers – and my black version too. I’m definitely planning a ‘bright’ coloured pair too – Sarai’s recent blue pair inspired me.

And thank you to Sarai and Caitlin for featuring me!

I am really amazed that the Colette patterns can be real workhorses in our day to day wear, we can make them in diff fabrics and get a very pretty look each time! Cant wait to get working on Beignet , such a flattering pattern, actually there is a TON of things one could do to change it each and every time,,,,for sure one I will work hard to fit perfectly,,,,,VERY well worth it ( love your patterns Sarai!)
